A Town Called Clueless Discussion Empty A Town Called Clueless Discussion

Post by Areada Sat Jan 21, 2012 2:08 pm

Well! Here's the first thing I've got running. No pressure to even get on the story quickly, it can die or something if no one feels like roleplaying right now. But I thought it looked kind of empty over there.

You'll see I gave a large amount of backstory. It's definitely a bit of a wacky idea, but I was in a humorous mood this morning. So there ya go. I like the area, and I thought it might also be nice if/when we create other roleplays, it may be easier to set some of them in another area of Magnificence, so we have some built-in world things, if we want.

Don't know. Just thought I should start something.

I'm going to post some character introduction soon. I will be working with two for the time being, and I may post some general things about them here, but not really in a character sheet way. Two sentence description of general information about age, looks, etc. will be fine for this.

Alright?

Very Happy

Artur and his familiar Tortimer return!

Areada, have you used Cardamon before? I'm certain I recognise that name, but I apologize for not remembering exactly when.

I haven't used Cardamon actually. But I like it. I was actually going for a feel between some of the characters I've had before, but I didn't want to use either of their names for this new person, so I needed something new.

ARTUR! I'm excited now. Crazy things always happen with him around!

Given the prominence of magical items and the existence of a magic shop, I hope you don't mind that I assumed some of the other villagers would be spellcasters. I'll gladly edit my post if they shouldn't be though.

Is there a specific reason why the magical shop and cafe exploded Areada? If not, I would like to be the culprit behind your misfortune, xD.

I don't know at all. I had a vague idea that there was maybe some magical problem going on, but I don't know for sure. Do whatever you'd like!

Artur must have lived with elves at one point. He picked up a few things, including the typical elven rivalry with dwarves. Ehehe.

It's always difficult to restrain myself from writing a new post when I know I should wait for other players to post their replies first. I think I'll start a game for between posts.

To avoid killing off RPs before their time, I think I'll only ever be in two at a time. Artur is my silly character, so in the next one I join I think I'll choose a more serious character. At the moment I'm content with just Clueless though.

Sounds smart. And a game would be fantastic. Although, I think you can post on Clueless now! I might post a small reaction bit, but no one's really talking to my characters right now.

SO (Not sparkly orange)

I was wondering if you all have vague plot ideas I could implement in some general description of life. Does anyone have a bad guy in mind? Anything new/crazy in the way of ideas? I wouldn't mind conspiring with people to get cool plot things in motion, via private messaging. Now is a good time to try things out!

One thing, though, is that I don't exactly envision this as a journey story, though it might end up one eventually. But not yet, if that is alright with you all. Let's get the town of Clueless very defined first, shall we?

Wow thanks! I'm not certain what to say xD I'm glad he's liked!

What direction is the story going in? Mandy approaching Artur about the SG seems to be starting a story arc. Of course, only Areada knows what's so special about the SG, and it would be cool if whatever it was could remain a surprise until it's revealed. So, I'm giving Areada permission to control my character for story reasons if she thinks it would help advance the story at any point.

Edit: everything above I wrote before I saw Areada's post. I assumed you had something planned in terms of the SG. I think the first story arc should revolve around the SG, since it's so mysterious and multiple characters already seem to be invested in uncovering it's secrets. I hadn't mentioned it yet, but Artur arrived in Clueless about a month before the RP started. The cosy little cottage on the unusually tall hill with the spiral staircase would have appeared overnight. He came because he likes to go where interesting things will happen, and he thinks its about time for something interesting to happen regarding the SG, as the game's intro post seemed to suggest.

As for villains, I'm not certain. Artur has a sister, but I'm not certain I see her being involved with whatever's going on with the SG. It depends on what the SG turns out to be I suppose. If you want to conspire, I'm open to PMs though. I don't even remember the name I originally gave his sister... hmm... nope, it's lost on me. Whoever she used to be, she's now called Gweneth the Red Witch.

Hrm, not sure what to do with Jarvis. Currently, I think he has a bitter, deadpan snarker kind of feel to him. He's a muggle, so to speak and hates most magic, so I believe that means the town has a love-hate relationship with him.

Bwahhhhh.

I had an idea for a villain, who would be sort of the reason for Mandy being a recluse. Not sure about that right now, though, since I didn't flesh out the idea and went in another direction with her for now.

I don't have any ideas, but I agree with Nayab about it revolving around the SG. Besides her want for fame, Mandy may or may not have an ulterior motive for wanting to find out the uses, perhaps having to do with the aforementioned villain I had thought about. Haven't thought it out completely yet.
I'm fine with no journey thing; somehow, the RP's with journeys don't seem to last long since it seems we don't know what to do with it. Later, as a sort of mini-plot, perhaps, I'd be fine with, too, though.

Actually, I do know a couple of things. One is about the SG (as in, I know its true nature). I hinted at it in my first post, though, it wasn't intended to be a HUGE mystery. But I can keep that going for you all.

I have a few ideas, I mean, but just small things, not huge plotlines.

O dear! I missed so many things. Pity I come back home from school at 9:30 PM PST, Sad But I do say do not prevent that from still posting on the role-play! I just ask you don't get into some really interesting stuff without me, like fun quests and stuff. Razz Or maybe I'm just a little bit selfish, O_o...?

Edit: On the case of a villain; I never explained Doc's story, but it does involve him losing the ability to use SO willingly. Reason why he has many strange objects that perform actions for him like bottles filled with magic and dangerous items. But that could be a different time, after our SG arc.

If you're wondering why some words are exceedingly long and uncomprehending, Doc cannot state the words Magic, Diagram, and other words pertaining to Magic because of a curse casted onto him by an evil magician/wizard/experimenter/blobthing. He can still think the work, but the word itself aloud is gibberish. Mmm(gibberish)k = Magic. Ddd(Gibberish)m(s) = Diagram(s) I will come up with more as time goes on, but as time goes on, the more the curse will remove his ability to speak. Tehe! I love my super villain already.

Ah, was wondering what the other gibberish was supposed to mean.

Any suggestions on how I could bring Jarvis into this little quest without making it seem forced?

It's not much of a quest-yet. I think we want to keep it local, and I can introduce someone of possible interest, but we've got to get another day or so gone. Maybe something can happen and we all go out to dinner? Something happens and Theo invites you all back to the Ko'erey place? I'll post in a sec, and try to give some possible options, in a vague way?
