They arrest you for picking flowers in Skyrim?!

... But why...? Have they no heart?...

They arrest you for picking the locks of people's houses too. It's so unfair!

Well, the flowers were marked "steal" but you'd think they'd be a little more lenient with their savior...

Gunman Kills 20 Schoolchildren in Connecticut

Uggghh.

The full impact of this just hit me. The worst thing is that it turned from disbelief into realizing that this happened again.

I also hate the fact that I can't form a cohesive argument to use on those people who are against gun control, even after something like this happens.

Although people are still good. The hugs to gunshot ratio is pretty high. Pretty. High.

You will find your argument, Zip. I assure you.

Here. For you. A friend posted this to facebook an hour or so ago. : )

http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/moments-that-restored-our-faith-in-humanity-this-y

This week has been awful. I haven't posted about things yet because, quite frankly, too many awful things have happened. On Tuesday, the brother of one of my friends died and this has shaken our community terribly (and reduced myself into a sort of red-eyed-from-crying zombie who faces intense finals and a winter break of community grieving). And then there was the tragedy in Oregon (near where I have relatives and friends). And then there was Connecticut.

But you are right, Zip. People are still good. Hey, the Hobbit movie came out today, and it was wonderful, and Christmas is almost here, and with it the Doctor Who Christmas Special. And people give hugs, and still love each other so much.

I was at work when I heard about the shooting :/ A patient told me she'd just heard about it on the news. I can't even imagine what those parents must be feeling.

Michael, I don't know what words I could use to express my condolences. I wish you, Mozy, and your community well and hope you find some peace in the holiday season.

That really bites Zip :/ You're not alone in having failed a course before. I totally fell flat on my face in 11th grade chemistry. To this day I don't know what possessed me to take that course in the first place...

Have I ever told you guys how much I hate research? Oh, actually sitting down and writing the paper is all well and good. But the research... Gah! Hours of browsing the library, and peer reviewed journals, and blah blah blah. The worst bit is knowing that all my work is has zero benefit. I'll write a paper that's an amalgamation of work other people have already had published in peer reviewed academic journals, and it wont be as good quality as those journals anyway. The TAs will skim the finished product briefly, assign it a grade, and toss it away. The professor won't ever even look at it.

But hey, I'm apparently learning or something!

I apologize, but I'm just miffed because I have lots of homework. I need to vent.

Yep, I've decided. If I could choose any superpower, it would be the ability to find relevant information pertaining to whatever question I'm trying to answer without having to sort through truckloads of irrelevant information I don't need....

I am so completely overwhelmed... how am I supposed to read 100 pages a week, and actually remember it all? I take thorough notes, but that just makes it take even longer to read. Then, on top of all that, I have to work on my three concurrent papers, and my journal assignment.

I want to quit academia and go be a farmer, but nowadays you need a 'bachelor of agriculture' or something equally stupid.

If you have any mercy left if your souls, you will kill me now...

I chose the wrong field... law is going to kill me. I hate researching this mind-numbing crap >_<

Paper due Tuesday, so I need to keep at it...

I just keep thinking about how it's just going to get worse as I continue my studies.

I was seriously born into the wrong century. I should have lived in the 1200s or something. Much more pleasant.

1200s? More pleasant? You would have died of smallpox by now or something.

Anyways, on the bright side, law pays well. It also allows you to get into other fields like politics and probably some other things.

Gah. Time. One of those things we all wish we had more of.

My melancholy is that my fourth class starts next week, I picked up some ridiculously long classes to assist with for work, and I have to learn all about python, PHP, and SQL really really fast in the next two weeks for them. And I have school. And it is cold out. And I am stressed.

I think my Lenten resolution is to write more stories. I'm gonna give something up AND do something more.
